“Formed in 1993, the Israel Association for Ethiopian Jews is the only organization in Israel working exclusively to advocate for the full and rapid integration of Ethiopian Jews into mainstream Israeli society.”

“IAEJ initiates community empowerment projects that provide Ethiopian citizens in Israel with knowledge and tools that enable them to bridge the social and cultural gaps they face and access the social and legal rights to which they are entitled.”

How necessary is this organization? You be the judge. Read these chilling statistics:
• 49% of Ethiopian families in Israel live with 2 or more people in each room.
• 70% of Ethiopian families in Israel have no incoming salary.
• The average salary of Ethiopian Jews in Israel keeps them below the poverty line.
• 45% of Ethiopian Jewish parents in Israel cannot yet speak basic Hebrew.
• Due to multiple hardships, the number of juvenile delinquents is double what it is among non-Ethiopian Israeli teens.
Improving employment, education, community empowerment can make a huge difference relatively quickly. That is the cause of IAEJ! Let us make it our cause as well!
